Boxing Day Dip 2010

Boxing Day morning and I was up bright and early to see the hardy few regulars from the Ship Inn build the bonfire on the beach before the “Dippers” arrive.

It was a beautiful clear morning with a good covering of snow on the beach, the first load of rubbish arrived followed shortly by Mr Lince with a full truck, which unfortunately got stuck in the snow and had to be helped up the beach onto firmer sand. In the meantime the bonfire was being built and the first of the dippers were starting to arrive.

With the bonfire burning and the safetymen ready it’s time for the dippers to run into the freezing North Sea.
Then thats it all over again for another year the fire’s nearly out and the beach is deserted just as it was when we arrived.

Thanks to Chris Taylor for additional photographs.
